Our in-house Architect recently qualified as an ‘empty nester’ and decided it was time to downsize. They had lost the motivation to maintain a yard and large home, and only needed space for a flourishing herb garden. They considered apartments but rising body corporates costs, the disconnect with car parking and more confined living quarters were clear deterrents. “What if I could design an apartment with all the benefits of living on the ground?" Researching land sales, Kelly found a 300m2 block of land and the journey began. It is such a successful solution that Civic Steel now uses this home to demonstrate and encourage others to consider the advantages of a smaller, smarter home. This home was also HIA Award Finalist for Custom Built Small Lot.
