"Civic Steel gave us confidence in the whole process from exploring design ideas, making decisions about the interior right through to the actual build."

All the challenges of designing on an inner city block were tackled on this project. The design had to satisfy town planning requirements for the Character Code while giving the owners a contemporary new home. In meeting these requirements, the home had to satisfy the ‘street character’ requirements to the south, while transforming into a chic high-ceiling space to the northern outdoor entertaining area. The aspect on this property picks up on the cool summer breezes from the north east and city glimpses are seen from the Kitchen, Living and Master Bedroom areas. With adult children still under roof, the planning allowed for separate zoning to the kids wing of the home, with their bedrooms and TV area commanding their own section that can be closed off from the main living area. Not least is the challenge of designing to budget.
